I get a lot of questions about my morning coffee routine, so I thought I'd share all the details here...
. One of the biggest + lasting changes I made during my first Whole30 was breaking that horrible addiction I had to the super sweet chemical goodness that was my old creamer. You know the kind, right? It comes in “flavors” like Butter Toffee, Pumpkin Spice, Peppermint Mocha, Cookies & Cream, Cheesecake Factory, Toasted Marshmallow Mocha...the list goes on and on. Because who wants their coffee to actually taste like coffee, right? . What I didn’t realize pre-Whole30 was that I had developed a reallllly bad habit of using my morning coffee ritual as nothing more than a vehicle for delivering a supernaturally sweetened cup of sugar into my veins. Seriously. I was one of those people that had a little coffee with my cup of creamer. . Knowing what I know now, I can see what a bad habit that was. I was starting my day off with an insane sugar hit that just led to more less-healthy cravings, a major energy crash, and a dependency on something that wasn’t serving me well. . Those first few weeks of my Whole30 I was drinking black coffee, sometimes with a splash on plain unsweetened almond milk. I was sad. Then I came across nutpods and I’ve been a loyal customer ever since. Like seriously, ask anyone that knows me in real life. Apparently I talk about it too much or something! Anyhow, nutpods are dairy free, soy free, gluten free, have no added sugar (real or artificial), and no carrageenan. It’s made from coconuts, almonds, and 100% natural flavors. Friends, it’s literally my FAVORITE... and it’s Whole30 approved. . You can get the original nutpods, or try their vanilla, hazelnut, pumpkin spice, peppermint mocha, lemon vanilla, or dark chocolate orange flavors. I’m currently loving the seasonal peppermint mocha, but hazelnut is always a favorite of mine. . Whole30 taught me that a few little changes overtime can actually add up to BIG results. This switch was a no brainer for me. Now, instead of rushing out of the house with my cup of chemicals (old creamer), I get downright romantic when it comes to my coffee ritual...aka...morning cup of J O Y (if you watch my stories on IG, you know this is a thing). . Here's what I do: I put a scoop of @vitalproteins collagen peptides in the bottom of my coffee mug. It's a great source of protein, also Whole30 approved, and has no stevia or other sweeteners like pretty much every other powdered protein. It's great for your hair, skin, and nails too! Then I pour my hot coffee on top, add my beloved nutpods, some MCT oil, and a little sprinkle of cinnamon to top it off. . I savor this hot cup of deliciousness while I go through my morning routine...gratitude practice, setting intentions, generating some positive energy for my day! What was once a mindless auto-pilot routine is now a very intentional and joyful way to start my day, AND it's in alignment with my health and wellness priorities. . Want to try nutpods for yourself? You can order directly from their website.
